Date: Saturday 13th
September 2025
Venue: Gtech Community Stadium
Kick-off: 20:00 BST
Tonight’s game is Chelsea’s fourth London derby in four Premier League matches this season as we travel to the Gtech to face Brentford.
Chelsea had a 2-0 win against Fulham last time out but let’s
be honest, we had our fair share of luck for that. It was luck (or a poor
decision) we needed to keep a clean sheet too but it plastered over a bit of a
crack in our defensive play, so the fact that Brentford have had fewer shots
than anyone else so far this season is a welcome statistic.
The
Bees are an organised side, even without Thomas Frank, they’ll frustrate us and
try to catch us on the counter, so another tough game can be expected and VAR
won’t rescue us every week.
MANAGER’S VIEWS
Going into
today’s game, Brentford manager Keith Andrews, says “Our approach from
set-pieces is a constant for us, whether that’s defending or attacking them. That’s
something we’ve been working on over the international break with the
centre-backs that have been here, Ethan Pinnock and Sepp van den Berg. Chelsea
will carry a threat, we’re well aware of that, and we’ll have to be
well-prepared to deal with it. I’m really looking forward to it. It’s a good
challenge for us and one we should embrace. There’ll be a narrative around the
game that we’re little Brentford and they’re Chelsea, but I like that, it suits
where we are and the steps we need to take to where we want to be.”
Enzo
Maresca, meanwhile, says “It’s always a tough game [against Brentford], both
were last year. The Premier League is the best in the world because of that.
It’s always difficult and I expect the same.”
