Juventus join transfer race for Chelsea left-back Renato Veiga

Juventus have entered the transfer race for Chelsea left-back Renato Veiga.

This is according to Fabrizio Romano who claims the Old Lady have started talks with the Premier League giants over a January move.

Bundesliga outfit Borussia Dortmund are also in negotiations with Chelsea after submitting their initial proposal last week.

Veiga joined the Blues in the summer from Basel in a deal worth €14 million. But huge competition for places in Enzo Maresca’s team means the 21-year-old has been limited to just a single Premier League start this term.

The Portuguese footballer isn’t happy with his current game time and could be willing to leave Stamford Bridge for more first-team opportunities.

Chelsea have slapped a €24m asking fee on Veiga, but Dortmund reportedly want a loan deal with an option to buy at the end of the campaign.

However, the left-back is unwilling to leave the English club permanently and prefers a loan move instead.

Busy window?

Chelsea have been enduring a difficult run of form in recent weeks.

They were tipped to mount an unlikely Premier League title charge at one point, but the recent negative results mean they are now 13 points behind leaders Liverpool in the standings.

Maresca will be looking to make a comeback by adding a few quality players in the 2025 January window.

Although they are not expected to be very busy with incomings in January, they will likely act if an opportunity presents itself.

They have been linked with an interest in Ipswich Town star Liam Delap as well as Bayern Munich’s Mathys Tel.

Chelsea are also looking to offload several fringe players, with Christopher Nkunku heavily linked with a move to Bayern.

Nkunku has been struggling for first-team minutes this campaign, with Nicolas Jackson ahead of him in the pecking order.
