Chelsea withdraw from transfer race to sign Crystal Palace’s Michael Olise

Chelsea have reportedly withdrawn from the transfer race to sign Crystal Palace star Michael Olise.

This is according to The Athletic’s David Ornstein who reports the Blues contacted Palace to express their interest in the 22-year-old and request permission to speak with his group.

The West Londoners made a big offer but felt the finances involved were beyond their reach and so they decided to pull out of the process.

As per The Athletic, Olise has chosen to join Bayern Munich who completed a sensational deal for Harry Kane in the previous English league summer transfer window from Tottenham Hotspur.

This is a blow for Manchester United and Newcastle United as they were also very interested in the talented winger.

Olise has made a lot of progress since joining Crystal Palace in 2021 from Reading in a deal worth around £8 million.

Since then, he has made 90 appearances across all competitions for the Eagles with 16 goals and 25 assists to his name.

He missed almost half of the 2023-24 campaign due to injury issues but still made 16 goal contributions in 19 games to help his side finish 10th in the Premier League.

Olise is set to join Bayern to play under Vincent Kompany who recently replaced Thomas Tuchel as their new head coach.

The 22-year-old is one of the best talents to have emerged from England and he is expected to be a big star in Germany.
