Three positives Chelsea can take from the draw against Aston Villa

Chelsea fought back from two goals down to salvage a thrilling 2-2 draw at Aston Villa on Saturday

Morgan Rogers’ strike and an own-goal from Marc Cucurella put the hosts in a dominating position before the second-half.

But a stirring comeback from the Blues ensured the spoils of the game were shared, with Noni Madueke and Conor Gallagher both earning their names on the scoresheet.

Mauricio Pochettino’s side are now set to host Tottenham Hotspur at Stamford Bridge on Thursday and fans can enjoy this match through Premier League live streams

Fighting spirit

Chelsea came into Saturday’s league fixture on the back of a humiliating 5-0 defeat at the hands of Arsenal.

They suffered an early blow when Cucurella deflected John McGuinn’s effort into the back of the net before Rogers doubled the lead with a low strike.

However, the Blues showed great fighting spirit in the second-half as they dominated possession and created many scoring opportunities.

Madueke reduced the deficit by curling a finish beyond Villa’s substitute goalkeeper Robin Olsen.

Gallagher added another with a superb finish before Axel Disasi had a stoppage-time winner ruled out by VAR.

Good result

Aston Villa has become a very difficult place for teams to pick up points this season.

Even Premier League title contenders Manchester City and Arsenal have returned empty handed from the West Midlands after losing their respective matches.

Unai Emery’s side were also on an impressive run before Saturday’s showdown at Villa Park.

But Chelsea held them to a 2-2 draw, and they would even have come away with all three points if Disasi’s goal wasn’t ruled out by VAR.

Moises Caicedo’s performance

Moises Caicedo has faced a lot of criticism since joining Chelsea last summer in a huge £115 million move.

But the Ecuador international was outstanding at Villa Park this weekend.

Caicedo dictated the tempo in midfield and was excellent in possession.

The 22-year-old had 102 touches in the game, boasting over 90 percent pass accuracy.

He won 11 of his 12 ground duels and also completed five tackles.

Chelsea will hope Caicedo continues his performances over the coming weeks as they take on the likes of Tottenham, West Ham United and Nottingham Forest.
