Chelsea contact Michel as they look to replace Mauricio Pochettino

Chelsea have reportedly made contact with Girona boss Michel as they look to replace Mauricio Pochettino as manager in the summer.

The 48-year-old has been doing wonders since joining the Spanish outfit in the summer of 2021.

He achieved promotion in his first season before guiding his side to a 10th-place finish in 2022-23.

And in the ongoing season, Michel and his team have exceeded expectations as they are targeting a Champions League finish.

The White and Reds have lost three of their previous five La Liga matches but still find themselves second behind Real Madrid with 62 points.

Michel’s excellent work hasn’t gone unnoticed as he has been linked with a move to Barcelona, with Xavi set to part ways with the Catalans at the end of the season.

But in latest Chelsea news headlines, the Blues have also reportedly made contact with the 48-year-old to be their next manager in the summer.

Diario AS report the Premier League side travelled to Northern Catalonia to speak with Michel about his future and present him a serious offer.

The Londoners appointed Mauricio Pochettino last summer but the Argentine boss has completely failed to revive the fortunes of the club.

They are languishing in 11th in the Premier League with just 36 points from 36 matches.

The Blues had a brilliant opportunity to win silverware this season after making it to the final of the Carabao Cup.

But they lost to Liverpool in the Wembley final after Virgil van Dijk scored the winning goal in extra-time.
