Chelsea confirm Lukaku’s loan move to Roma

Chelsea have announced that Romelu Lukaku has joined Roma on a season-long loan deal.

It is said that the Serie A outfit will pay around £5 million and they will also cover all his wages.

There is a release clause in his contract too, which is believed to be in the region of £37m.

The Blues fans are unlikely to miss the player after the comments he made about the club. They are instead more focused on their next league fixture with Nottingham Forest, available to watch via Chelsea live streams

Lukaku joined the London club in the summer of 2021 in a deal worth a whopping £97.5m.

However, he failed to make an impact at Stamford Bridge, scoring only eight goals in 26 Premier League matches.

The Belgian was sent on loan to Inter Milan for the 2022-23 season. A series of injuries kept him out of action for several months but he performed superbly towards the end of the campaign.

In 37 appearances across all competitions, the 30-year-old scored 14 goals and registered seven assists.

It looked he would join the Nerazzurri on a permanent deal but a move didn’t materialise.

Chelsea manager Mauricio Pochettino wanted to give him a second chance at Stamford Bridge but the player desired a move away from the West Londoners.

Lukaku was linked with a transfer to Juventus while he also had an offer from the Saudi Pro League.

However, Roma ultimately won the race for the experienced striker.

The Italian club’s manager Jose Mourinho knows the player, with the pair having worked together at Chelsea and Manchester United.
