Premier League Preview: Chelsea vs Newcastle United

Chelsea can break into the top four of the Premier League when they entertain Newcastle United at Stamford Bridge on Monday night.

The Blues dismissed manager Frank Lampard last month and there has since been a change in fortunes under new boss Thomas Tuchel.

Under the German, the Blues are unbeaten in four league games with 10 points and they have won their previous three matches.

Chelsea players remain under-priced on SoRare as the London club marches up the league table, and they are good bets to buy.

If you’re unfamiliar with Sorare works, this Sorare review will help. Essentially, it’s the world of betting meeting stock market with a dash of fantasy football thrown on.

Back to the league table – the west London side are now within one point of Liverpool for the final Champions League spot and can leapfrog them with a win on Monday.

The capital outfit recently qualified for the last eight of the FA Cup with a hard-fought 1-0 win at Championship side Barnsley.

Up next, they are scheduled to face the Magpies, who are 17th in the table but have a 10-point cushion gap to the drop zone.

Key Stats

Since 2012, the Blues have suffered six league defeats to the Magpies but five of those have been on the road.

The club have won four of the previous five meetings against their opponents.

At Stamford Bridge, they are on an eight-match winning streak against the Tyneside outfit.

Team News

Thiago Silva has been ruled out for the Blues with a thigh injury. Kai Havertz remains doubtful for the game with a knock and he may require a late fitness test.

Callum Wilson (thigh), Jeff Hendrick (suspension), Javi Manquillo (ankle) and Fabian Schar (knee) are sidelined. The Magpies are likely to make a late decision on the availability of Jamaal Lascelles and Federico Fernandez after their minor injury setbacks.

Predicted Line-ups

Chelsea (3-4-2-1): Edouard Mendy; Cesar Azpilicueta, Andreas Christensen, Antonio Rudiger; Reece James, N’Golo Kante, Jorginho, Marcos Alonso; Mason Mount, Callum Hudson-Odoi; Timo Werner.

Newcastle United (4-3-1-2): Karl Darlow; Emil Krafth, Ciaran Clark, Paul Dummett, Jamal Lewis; Isaac Hayden, Joe Willock, Jonjo Shelvey; Miguel Almiron; Joelinton, Allan Saint-Maximin.

Predicted score

The Blues are the team with the consistency at the moment and they should get the better of the Magpies.

The Tynesiders are missing the services of Wilson, who has been hugely influential for them.

He has contributed 15 of their 25 league goals scored (10 goals and five assists). The home side are fancied to win with another clean sheet.

Chelsea 2-0 Newcastle United

Blue is the colour is an honest insight to the World of Chelsea FC. Not always pretty, sometimes rather cynical, but always realistic.
