Bayer Leverkusen are sticking to the £90m valuation for their wonderkid Kai Havertz. Chelsea wants to sign Havertz and the player wants a Premier League move too.
A match made in heaven.
However, the German club, who are financially weak during the COVID-19 pandemic, won’t sell Havertz for less than £90m [source: Sky Sports].
German clubs follow a similar pattern as Borussia Dortmund are also keen on letting Jadon Sancho go for not less than €120m. These clubs will not get easily bullied by financially stringer clubs and get a discount because of the pandemic.
Havertz has only two years left on his contract and Chelsea understands that the £90m could be negotiated.
Last week, Leverkusen chief Fernando Carro confirmed that Havertz will leave the club as he wants a new challenge. Buy, he added that the club is looking for the right bid.
Chelsea are the only club who are in talks with the 20-year-old German. Chelsea needs to understand that Havertz has a very high potential and his asking price will only go up from the £90m.
The Blues have other defensive issues to cater to as well. They have already spent a combined €94m on Hakim Ziyech and Timo Werner. A left-back and a center-back are Chelsea’s top priorities too. There are high chances that Chelsea wouldn’t be able to match Leverkusen’s asking price.
