It is finally happening for Chelsea.
Reports from Sky Sports suggest Chelsea could land Leicester City left-back Ben Chilwell by the end of this week.
After signing Hakim Ziyech and Timo Werner, Frank Lampard wants defensive reinforcements. Chilwell is Chelsea’s no.1 target.
Sky Sports suggests that a deal could take place by the end of the week. Leicester’s asking price is £80m- the same fee Manchester United paid for Harry Maguire. However, the fee could drastically go low if Chilwell asks to leave.
Chelsea can offer Champions League football and he will be a regular starter in Lampard’s XI. Emerson is set to leave the club and Marcos Alonso isn’t better than Chilwell.
However, if Chilwell’s deal doesn’t go through, the Blues could sign Ajax defender Nicolas Tagliafico for almost half the price.
