Chelsea has been in the market this summer with the intent of strengthening their side.
Chelsea manager Frank Lampard joined the club last year
is now looking to impose his blueprint on the team and has been on the lookout
for a new goalkeeper.
The Blues have been linked with almost all of the top available keepers in the world but are yet to find a player worth getting excited for. Emiliano Martinez, Ben Foster and Andre Onana are heavily linked with the club too.
It looks like Chelsea’s search for goalkeeper may end,
with the target appearing closer to home than previously thought of.
Per reports by Tutto Mercato and Express Sport, 26-year-old Everton goalkeeper
Jordon Pickford is now a priority for Chelsea’s goalkeeping position this
summer.
The Daily Star also reports that Everton is willing to
listen to offers for goalkeeper Jordan Pickford. The report also states that
the Toffees are ready to sell the England international as manager Carlo
Ancelotti has not been impressed by Pickford since joining the club last
season.
This could provide an opportunity to Chelsea, who is
looking for a goalkeeper this summer with excellent shot-stopping ability. The
Blue’s goalkeeping situation is in tatters with the loss of confidence in Kepa
Arizabalaga and the age of back up keeper Willy Caballero playing a huge role.
Willy Caballero turns 39 this summer.
A move for Pickford may be on the cards for the Blues,
with Everton looking to offload the goalkeeper and sign Ben Foster from
Watford.
The Blues have spent an impressive amount of money this summer to rejuvenate their forward line and are looking to do the same with the defence. Marina Granovskaia and the rest of the backroom should take a serious look at this transfer with the toffees ready to sell Pickford for a fee of £43.5m.
