Potential return date for Christian Pulisic revealed

According to TalkSPORT, Chelsea attacker Christian Pulisic could be sidelined between four to five weeks after picking up a hamstring injury during the FA Cup final against Arsenal last weekend.

The USA international netted his 11th goal of the season in the fifth minute of the FA Cup final. However, his day ended on a bad note as he pulled his hamstring shortly after the interval.

Blues boss Frank Lampard has yet to provide the timescale for the forward’s recovery, but TalkSPORT reveals that it could take between four to five weeks for him to overcome the problem.

With the 2020/21 campaign set to start from September 12, it is highly unlikely that Pulisic will feature in the first few games, considering he won’t have a pre-season under his belt.

Hence, it could take another couple of weeks for him before he is reintegrated into the first-team plans. The Blues, though, should be able to cover up his absence with the summer purchases of Timo Werner and Hakim Ziyech.

Chelsea are scheduled to face Bayern Munich in the second leg of their Champions League round of 16 tie at the Allianz Arena on Saturday. They are trailing 3-0 after the home leg which was played in February.

Both Pulisic and Cesar Azpilicueta will miss the game with hamstring injuries. Pedro, who dislocated his shoulder in the Cup final, is likewise out alongside Billy Gilmour, who had a knee surgery last month.

There are doubts over the fitness of Willian, N’Golo Kante and Ruben Loftus-Cheek. Lampard is expected to provide an update on the team in Friday’s press conference.
