‘Absolute class’, ‘An Asset’, some Chelsea fans praise one player after defeat at Liverpool

Some Chelsea fans on Twitter have praised the cameo appearance from Christian Pulisic during the club’s 5-3 Premier League defeat at Liverpool on Wednesday.

The USA international did not start the game due to a minor thigh problem and his absence was felt in the opening half, which ended 3-1 in the hosts’ favour.

Roberto Firmino made it 4-1 for the newly-crowned champions in the 55th minute, but the Blues managed to reduce the deficit after the hour mark through Tammy Abraham.

Both Pulisic and Abraham were substituted onto the field in the 59th minute and the former delivered a splendid pass for the Englishman to score his 17th goal of the season.

Pulisic thereafter missed a wonderful opportunity to score the Blues’ third goal on the night, but he made amends in the 73rd minute where he showed terrific composure to beat two defenders in the box to unleash his shot past Alisson.

The Blues eventually succumbed to a 5-3 loss after a late counter-attacking goal from Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, but a section of the supporters were nonetheless delighted with the display from Pulisic.

Here are some of the reactions on Twitter…

Pulisic has experienced a mixed debut season partly due to injuries, but he has still accumulated 10 goals and 10 assists from 32 appearances across all competitions.

He should only get better in his second year with the Blues and that should be exciting to watch. The 21-year-old is likely to make the starting XI for the final game of the league season versus Wolverhampton Wanderers.

The Blues require one point from the clash to secure their Champions League berth for next season without relying on the result between Leicester City and Manchester United.
