Sought after target on the verge of completing move to Stamford Bridge

Chelsea are close to completing a sensational move for highly sought after German striker, Timo Werner.

The RB Leipzig man has been continually linked with a move to the premier league, with Liverpool and Manchester United also thought be interested in acquiring his services. The former were thought to be favourites until today’s news.

Chelsea’s offer of guaranteed first-team football appears to have done the trick in convincing the Germany international to swap Leipzig for West-London.

Many sources are reporting that talks have accelerated to a mutual agreement between the player and the Blues. Sky Sports are reporting the German will earn £200k per week, with the fee meeting the release clause of £49.4m.

Werner has been prolific this season, scoring 31-goals in all competitions. Joining the Blues will make the 24-year-old Chelsea’s second signing ahead of next season. Hakim Ziyech’s £33m move from Ajax was confirmed earlier in the campaign.

It sounds too good to be true, and I won’t believe it until it’s confirmed officially. But it looks increasingly likely at this point. What a great bit of business it would be. Marina Granovskaia deserves a lot of praise if she has persuaded Werner to come to Stamford Bridge.

It’s great the club are showing true intent in the transfer market. Ziyech and maybe Werner already. More to come I’m sure.
