The defender has been courting interest from Arsenal and Everton, but the report claims Chelsea are making a serious effort to clinch his signature.
Kumbulla has been likened to Juventus and Italy legend, Giorgio Chiellini. The defender was born in Italy, but elected to represent the country of his parentage, Albania.
Capped once at international level, Kumbulla made his Hellas Verona debut in 2018 in Coppa Italia action, going on to make 21-appearances in total. Eighteen of those have come this season.
The centre-backs’ emergence has coincided with his clubs rise to 8th-place in serie A, and has come following a period that has seen the club yo-yo between the top two divisions in Italy.
The Blues are always on the look out for young talent, and having more defensive options is a must. The Express also claims a fee of around £18m would be enough to secure his services.
