Chelsea are reportedly favourites to sign German teenager, Nnamdi Collins, according to Bild.
The centre-back has gained notoriety due to his pace. Collins stands at 6ft 3ins, and is still growing. An ability to cover 30 metres in 3.8 seconds according to the report, makes him one of the quickest players, and he’s only 16-years-old.
The German-born defender is of Nigerian heritage, but has so far represented the country of his birth at both u15 and u16 level. He is actually captain of the latter age group.
Playing at u17 club level, the youngster has made 21-appearances, proving to have an eye for goal, scoring four times from a centre-back role.
Chelsea have been tracking the youngster for three-years, although Dortmund have not given up hope of convincing the defender to sign a professional contract to stay in Germany.
Collins joined Dortmund from Dusseldorf four-years-ago. He was originally an attacking-midfielder, but converted to a defensive role.
The report also suggests that Manchester City are interested in the youngsters services. Signing another promising talent would be a huge plus for the Blues. Frank Lampard has already shown faith in youth throughout this campaign.
