Although there’s still a lot of uncertainty regarding football at the moment, rumours are still coming through thick and fast. The summer transfer window is due to open on the 18th of June, but it remains to be seen if that’s the case.
The latest regarding Chelsea is a reported interest in England international, Declan Rice. The West Ham man is a regular for the Hammers, appearing on 31-occasions this season.
The 21-year-old was at the Blues as a youngster, and knows a lot of Frank Lampard’s emerging stars personally. Rice was released at the age of 14. Moving to East-London, the midfielder has thrived since coming through the ranks with the Irons.
Sky Sports are reporting Chelsea will know that Rice will be an expensive option. The youngster has four-years left on his current deal, with an option to extend it by another year.
Signing Rice would add to the Blues crop of youngsters. However, an astronomical fee would seem a silly move from a Chelsea point of view. Saying that, the potential is there, and Lampard is building for the future. I’m personally not sure what I think about this rumour. Comment your thoughts below.
