Willian will remain loyal to Chelsea if season is extended beyond contract expiration date

Uncertainty over whether the premier league season will be completed is likely to continue for some time, following the Coronavirus outbreak. Officially games due to resume on 4th April. But being realistic it’s anyone’s guess when, or even whether this season will be completed.

Many players are due to see their contracts expire at the end of June, leaving uncertainty on whether players will be able to complete the season from a contractual point of view.

Brazilian ace Willian has now shared his view on what he plans to do if it comes to that scenario.

Talking to a live Facebook chat, via Daily Express. Willian said:

“And if I had to play on those dates, in these months, I think it would be no problem for me to end the league in a way which would be loyal to the club, as they always were with me. Regardless of a signed paper.”

However, Willian knows it’s not certain that scenario will necessarily happen. The 31-year-old does believe in showing loyalty to Chelsea, he added:

“It’s clear that this is not a certainty, we don’t know what can happen. But without a doubt, as always, I will always be ready to give the best to my club regardless of my contract situation.”

Willian’s future is still to be resolved. Both Arsenal and Tottenham have been tipped to fight it out for the winger at the end of the season. Although Frank Lampard still wants to keep the Brazil international.

Willian has made no secret of a desire to stay in London. After seven-years at Stamford Bridge, the South American is settled in the capital.
