£34m striker wants to stay in London – A return to Crystal Palace likely, according to report

Michy Batshuayi’s time at Chelsea is looking increasingly likely to be coming to an end. The Belgian was used as second-choice at the beginning of the season, but despite an injury to Tammy Abraham, his chances have still been limited as Olivier Giroud has jumped ahead of him in the pecking order.

The 26-year-old has made a total of 24-appearances this campaign, but only five of them have seen him start, with his services mainly being used as a late substitute. The Belgium international has found the back of the net on six-occasions.

The former Marseille man, has enjoyed loan spells at Borrussia Dortmund, Valencia, and Crystal Palace. It’s the latter of those three that looks to be his destination, according to the Daily Express.

The Eagles were interested in making a permanent move at the end of the loan spell, but Chelsea wanted £45m for the Belgian. With only a year left on his contract, Palace will expect the fee to be considerably lower if they are to sign him next summer.

Batshuayi’s career has been very hit and miss at Stamford Bridge. The most memorable moment has to be the winning goal at the Hawthorns that clinched the 2017 premier league title.

Other memorable moments were in champions league action. An injury-time winner at Atletico Madrid in 2017/18 season, and more recently scoring a late winner at Ajax.

Chelsea need a top striker to compete with Tammy Abraham for a starting spot. The England man has fared well, scoring 15-goals before injury. Olivier Giroud could yet stay at the Blues, after finding form in recent weeks.
