Blues in talks over move for £42m Liverpool and Manchester City target

Chelsea are planning a bid for Lyon star, Houssem Aouar, according to Tuttomercartoweb.

Frank Lampard wants to build his own squad in West-London. Ajax attacker, Hakim Ziyech has already been confirmed to be joining the club in the summer. Also, the future of Kepa Arrizabalaga may lie elsewhere, and both Pedro, and Willian will see their current deals expire at the end of the season.

The report suggests The Blues have already made an approach for the £42m rated midfielder. Juventus are also said to be interested in his signature.

The 21-year-old has also been a long-term of Premier league leaders, Liverpool. The Reds reportedly tried to sign the youngster back in 2016. Aouar has since explained why he turned them down at the time, reported by the Metro.

To add fuel to the rumour, Le10sport reported last April that Jurgen Klopp was keen to sign the wonderkid last summer.

Manchester City have also been linked, after Pep Guardiola heaped praise on the 21-year-old. The Spaniard is quoted by Manchester Evening News as saying:

“Houssem Aouar is a very good player, he is incredible.”

Lyon are unlikely to be keen to sell the youngster. He has a contract that runs until 2023. However, a big money offer could tempt the Liigue 1 club to sell. The lure of the premier league, and Frank Lampard’s attempts to build a young team for the future could also be a factor to convince the Frenchman to move to Stamford Bridge.
