‘Best news I’ve ever heard’, ‘absolutely buzzing’ – How some Chelsea fans have reacted to Ruben Loftus-Cheek being back in the squad for Tottenham game

It’s the news many Blues fans have been waiting for. After nine-months on the sidelines, Ruben Loftus-Cheek is back in the first-team squad.

The 24-year-old has faced an uphill battle to regain match fitness. From frustrating set-backs, to valuable match day minutes with the development team, Loftus Cheek has finally put himself within touching distance of some first-team action.

The cruciate ligament damage that he suffered looked likely to keep the midfielder out until last October according to the early diagnosis. However, a set back left Chelsea fans wondering if we’d even see him turning out in Royal blue this season.

Frank Lampard broke the news at the club’s press conference ahead of tomorrow’s visit of Tottenham.

Lampard told the awaiting press that Loftus-Cheek won’t start, but is part of the squad.

Many fans gave their reaction to the welcome news by taking to social media.

Not a time to get carried away, but all being well, Frank Lampard will ease the midfielder back into action. A fully fit, fully firing, Ruben Loftus-Cheek, will be a huge asset as we head towards the end of the season.
