Mark Bosnich: ‘Personally I would bring him back’ – Former Chelsea goalkeeper backs Kepa to return against Manchester United

One huge talking point among Chelsea fans recently is who should start against Manchester United? Kepa Arrizabalaga has seen his form dip during the season. So much so that Willy Caballero started his first premier league game of the season against Leicester City earlier this month.

In truth the Argentine didn’t cover himself in glory. The Foxes second goal was down to error of judgement by the 38-year-old.

Frank Lampard has had over two-weeks to ponder over which stopper will play in this evening crucial clash with United.

Former Chelsea and United goalkeeper, Mark Bosnich has given his view on who should start. The Australian has no doubt it’s the Spaniard who should get the nod.

Bosnich told Sky Sports:

“Personally I would bring him back in, especially if Lampard is pleased with his reaction.”

Bosnich has a lot sympathy with the £71.6m record signing. He added:

“It’s happened to all of us in terms of getting left out of the squad and the most important thing during those training sessions and if you have to play in a reserve game is that your attitude is 100 per cent, because everyone is watching you and how you react.”

Chelsea have been linked with potential replacements next season. However the 48-year-old feels Kepa should remain at the Blues long-term.

“He’s had a rough time and that happens to the best players and to the best goalkeepers but I really do feel he is the answer in the long term.”

Lampard has a tough decision to make. Chelsea face a season defining run of fixtures. Caballero has bags of experience, but these games could well be the making of Kepa if he’s given the opportunity.
