Young Chelsea defender linked with loan move away from Stamford Bridge – Swansea City line up 18-month deal

Chelsea defender Marc Guehi is leaving Stamford Bridge in a loan deal, according to a report in the Daily Mail.

Guehi broke into the first-team squad as part of Frank Lampard’s new look young side earlier this season. The 19-year-old made his debut in a Carabao Cup third round clash with Grimsby Town. The Ivory Coast born defender also played a part in the Blues fourth-round tie with Manchester United.

The England U-21 internatonal joined Chelsea at the age of seven, progressing through the youth ranks.

The report suggests that Guehi is on the verge of signing an 18-month loan deal with Championship club Swansea City.

The Swans are currently sixth, as they look to regain their premier league status. Chelsea have had a lot of success loaning players to Championship clubs in recent years. Tammy Abraham spent last season at Aston Villa, having also succeeded at Bristol City.

Coincidently the 22-year-old also an injury hindered season in South Wales. Although that was at premier league level, it wasn’t as fruitful as his other loans.

Last season Mason Mount, and Fikayo Tomori spent the season at Derby County under the management of Frank Lampard. The pair played a big part in the Rams reaching the championship playoff final last May.
