Chelsea submit bid for Metz striker

Chelsea have reportedly submitted a bid for Metz striker, Habib Diallo. The Senegalese international played a key role in the Maroons successful return to Ligue-1 last season.

Diallo, scored 26-goals, from 37-appearances, as Metz secured the Ligue-2 title at first time of asking. The 24-year-old, who has been capped four-times by his country, joined Metz in 2014. Having progress at youth level, the youngster went out on loan to Brest for 18-months.

Following his prolific goal scoring success last term, Diallo has started well this campaign, scoring on ten-occasions, in 19-appearances.

Local Metz newspaper, Republicain-lorrain, claim the Blues have are willing to pay £17m bid for the African star.

Tammy Abraham has made a great start to the season, following his return from a loan spell at Aston Villa. The 22-year-old has netted 14-times, from 28-appearances.

It is likely the Blues need backup for the England international, with Olivier Giroud tipped to leave Stamford Bridge this month. Michy Batshuayi has proved an able deputy, but the Belgian international’s future in West-London is also in doubt.

The January transfer window does throw up some unlikely links. Not a lot is known of Diallo. I feel the Blues would be better setting their sights at more proven targets. However, Diallo could prove to be a capable addition to the squad. And who knows, at the price asked the 24-year-old could prove to be a bargain.
