CHELSEA v West Ham: Preview

Date: Saturday 30th November 2019

Venue: Stamford Bridge

Kick-off: 15:00 GMT

After a bit of an exhausting game (to watch at least), midweek, today’s game sees our 250th Premier League game against London opposition as we take on West Ham at Stamford Bridge.

We’ve had 113 competitive meetings with The Hammers and have the edge in those, with 50 wins to their 40 to date. In more recent years, there hasn’t been much to split us, results wise, although we’ve done better against them at home.

We lost our last league game, against Man City, in a game we just seemed to lose our grip and belief in as soon as we conceded. West Ham meanwhile, come into the game knowing they are in danger of slipping into the bottom three, so we need to expect them to come at this particular derby game as their FA Cup final.

You would hope Frank will have prepared for that.

MANAGER’S VIEWS

Going into today’s game, Chelsea manager Frank Lampard, says “He (Pellegrini) is a good man and manager, he will be working hard to turn them around. We all know the ruthless nature of the game. Every team, every owner, everyone wants to push.”

West Ham manager Manuel Pellegrini meanwhile, says “Our best starting XI, in all the positions, will start the next game. Of course it’s not a comfortable position [for goalkeeper Roberto]. He knows exactly about his performance, he has a career behind him, he has been a very good player in big teams so of course he cannot be happy in the moment, but it is what has happened and he must try to improve.”

SQUAD NEWS

For Chelsea, Ruben Loftus-Cheek (Achilles), van Ginkel (ACL), and Antonio Rudiger (groin) all remain out. Tammy Abraham (hip) is still feeling the aftereffects of a heavy landing midweek and will not feature. Ross Barkley should remain out just because he’s a bit of a pillock and Callum Hudson-Odoi (hamstring) remains doubtful.

For West Ham, Lukasz Fabianski, Jack Wilshere and Manuel Lanzini remain out injured, whilst Issa Diop is suspended.
