‘happy to stay’ – N’Golo Kante reveals happiness at Chelsea to deliver Paris Saint-Germain snub

N’Golo Kante is arguably Chelsea’s best player. The diminutive Frenchman has been a revelation since arriving in the premier league in 2015.

An unlikely title success with Leicester City in his first season, led to a £32m move to Stamford Bridge. The World Cup winner then repeated that feat with The Blues. An FA Cup, and Europa League  has followed, with Kante playing a huge part in the success.

His stock has continued to rise since then – A host of top clubs showing an interest in acquiring the 28-year-old’s services.

It has now been revealed that Kante turned down the opportunity to return home. Paris Saint-Germain wanted to take the midfielder back to the city of his birth.

However, the Frenchman was having none of it, insisting he was happy in West-London. He told tv channel Canal+ (via Talksport) :

“I did not want to come to PSG it was more a sporting choice. I felt good in London, in the project and I was happy to stay there.”

Kante is well aware of his role at Chelsea.

“We know what we have.  I was in Chelsea and I was good there”.

There’s no doubt N’Golo Kante is one of, if not the best defensive midfielder in the world. Injuries have hampered the 28-year-old this season, and despite the form of Jorginho and Mateo Kovacic, he has been missed. It’s not just his workrate and defensive ability the Blues have been without.

The French ace has scored three times in the six-premier league appearances he has made this season. Maurizio Sarri playing the Frenchman in more advanced role, adding another dimension to his game. He has continued that with Frank Lampard allowing him more freedom to break forward.

Kante will be expected to start tomorrow’s crucial champions league clash at Valencia. Maybe he can find his first-ever goal in European competition to help fire the Blues into the knockout stages this season.
