Former Chelsea manager Glenn Hoddle believes The Blues will be Premier League champions in the near future.
Chelsea have made a great start to the season under the management of club legend Frank Lampard. The 41-year-old has largely relied on youth by integrating Mason Mount, Reece James, Tammy Abraham and Fikayo Tomori into the starting XI. Other youngsters such as Marc Guehi and Billy Gilmour have also seen first-team action this campaign.
It all adds up to a bright future for the West-London club. Hoddle, who was boss at the club from 1993 until 1996, believes they have the credentials to be Premier League champions within the next two-years.
Talking on Premier League productions show,(Via Daily Express). Hoddle emphasised why he believes The Blues can succeed.
“They’re a very exciting team to watch, I don’t know whether those youngsters would have had a chance without the embargo, but they’ve been given a chance.”
Hoddle feels The Blues’ current crop of youngsters have proved they are good enough. He added:
“The one key thing is, when you put youngsters in they’ve got to be good enough, and these guys are good enough.”
The former England manager then made the bald prediction that Chelsea can win the title in the near future…
“There’s five of them there that I think in two years time they’re going to be ready to win the league. I really do feel that there’s a foundation, building blocks there to really go on and become something special.”
Hoddle finished by talking of the impact on the more experienced players in the squad. Staying the youngsters are pushing them on to perform better…
“They’ve all upped their game because they’re looking over their shoulder saying ‘hang on, these young whippersnappers are going to take our place’ and it’s lifted the team’s performance immensely”.
It’s still early days, but there’s no doubt these are exciting times at Stamford Bridge. The conveyor belt of top young stars will hopefully continue for years to come, creating a new era of success for Chelsea.
