Chelsea’s long-awaited appeal to CAS Court of arbitration for Sport) will be heard on Wednesday 20th November, according to Sky Sports.
The Blues were originally found guilty of earlier this year over the process of transferring minors. An appeal was heard in April, with FIFA deciding to uphold the punishment of denying Chelsea the chance to sign players for two transfer windows (summer 2019, and January 2020). A fine of £470,000 was also issued.
Having served the first part of the ban, Chelsea decided to appeal to CAS in the hope the punishment can be reduced. Doing so would allow Chelsea to register players this coming January.
The Blues were found guilty of 150 violations, involving 71 players. A big part of Chelsea’s defence was in regard to players be recognised as trialists. Another factor is that FIFA don’t recognise premier league youth games as competitive.
The Blues did still add to the squad in the summer. January signing Christian Pulisic made his long-awaited arrival, and they were also boosted by the return of loan stars, Tammy Abraham, Fikayo Tomori, Mason Mount.
Despite losing the services of Eden Hazard and David Luiz, Chelsea have had a good start to the season, sitting fourth in the Premier League after eleven games.
