Chelsea aiming to crank up the pressure on Manchester pair

Chelsea visit West Ham United on Saturday aiming to stay in touch with the two Manchester clubs at the top of the Premier League.

Antonio Conte’s side trail table-topping City by 11 points and United by three, but with their title rivals set to clash at Old Trafford on Sunday they have an opportunity to crank up the pressure with a victory at the London Stadium.

Chelsea have been in fine form in recent weeks, taking 19 points from their last seven league games. Despite that run the Blues can still be backed at 20/1 in the Betfair sportsbook 2018 title winners market.

Bookmakers believe Chelsea will continue their recent dominance over West Ham, pricing them up at 1/2 to win the game. The Hammers are available at 6/1, with the draw on offer at 10/3.

Chelsea have won six and drawn two of their last nine league meetings with West Ham and completed the double over their London rivals last season. Both games finished 2-1 and odds of 15/2 for a repeat performance look tempting.

Eden Hazard has been in excellent form over the past few weeks, scoring four goals in his last four league games. He looks well worth an interest at 7/5 to add to his tally this weekend.

While Chelsea have been on an upward curve, West Ham remain in big trouble towards the bottom of the Premier League.

David Moyes has failed to spark a revival since taking over as manager from Slaven Bilic, picking up just one point in four games.

West Ham haven’t won in the league since a 1-0 success at home to Swansea City at the end of September and are priced at 17/1 to match that scoreline this weekend.

Their last Premier League victory over Chelsea was a 2-1 win back in 2015 and they are available at 20/1 to match that feat on Saturday.

The Hammers did make things difficult against Man City at the Etihad Stadium last weekend, with Angelo Ogbonna giving them a surprise lead.

City fought back to win the game, but the centre-back can be backed at 55/1 to grab another shock opener against Chelsea.

Given the current form of the two sides, it’s impossible to see anything other than an away victory this weekend.

With 32 goals conceded in 15 games the Hammers look prime candidates for relegation this season.

A Chelsea victory and over 3.5 goals in the match can be backed at 16/5 and that looks a solid wager.

Blue is the colour is an honest insight to the World of Chelsea FC. Not always pretty, sometimes rather cynical, but always realistic.
