Man City would prove a tough opponent in the FA Cup semifinal

All roads lead to Wembley this weekend as Chelsea take on Man City in the FA Cup semi-final and they look a bit of value at a top priced 3.4 with BetVictor to beat Roberto Mancini’s men.

The head-to-head record between the pair is not so good as far as the Blues are concerned as they have won have won only two of their last nine meetings with City in all competitions, losing six and drawing the other.

However this is the FA Cup, and it’s a competition which Chelsea have thrived in and made their own.

Before 1997, Chelsea had only won the trophy once in their 92-year history and been runners-up on three occasions.

But in the last 17 seasons, they have reached the final seven times, with six victories.

Their record is particularly impressive since the new Wembley Stadium was completed in 2007. They won the first FA Cup final to be held there, and they have not lost in six subsequent visits in the competition – including three more finals.

That means that excluding penalty shoot-outs, they are now are unbeaten in their last 29 FA Cup ties, winning 23 and drawing six – a record which makes them look worth a wager at the odds on offer to come out on top in this.

Juan Mata has been outstanding all season and is sure to play a key role in the outcome yet again.

In 380 minutes over five ties in this competition he has scored one goal and added five assists, including an incredibly judged pass for Demba Ba to score the winner in the quarter-final replay win over Man United.

The Spaniard looks a bit of value in the first goalscorer market at a best of 10 with William Hill, and can also be backed at a tasty looking 3.75 with BetVictor and William Hill to net anytime.

Given the attacking nature of both sides, over 2.5 goals also looks well worth considering at odds of 1.95 with BetVictor and Ladbrokes and I am going to take Chelsea to run out 2-1 winners.

That outcome is chalked up at a best of 13 with BetVictor.
