Ever get the feeling we’ve been sold a pup? Yossi Benayoun signed for us in July 2010 for a reported £5.5m and was out from September 2010 until April 2011 with a ruptured Achilles. He then spent a year on loan at Arsenal, before going out on loan again in August this year to West Ham – and now he’s back…….injured.
Having made just six appearances for West Ham, Benayoun has suffered another injury setback in training, so he’s back at Stamford Bridge for treatment. I know he was unlucky with the Achilles injury so soon after joining us but seriously, £5.5m for 8 league appearances seems steep even for us.
Chelsea have the option of recalling the midfielder – whose contract runs out in the summer – in January, although I suspect he could still be in our treatment room then anyway.
Wouldn’t have anything to do with Eva Carneiro would it?
