So, Anton Ferdinand has reacted to John Terry’s not guilty verdict by suggesting “It is one rule for us, and one rule for John Terry” has he? Well if that’s the case, we’ll be expecting to see both Ferdinand brothers’ arses hauled in front of a judge and pronounced guilty shall we?
Of course we won’t, in fact we won’t even see the pair of them up in front of the FA, which may well mean there’s one rule for them and another for JT. We will however see John Terry up in front of the FA – since five days in court didn’t offer the pound of flesh everyone outside of Chelsea had hoped for.
Meanwhile though, Anton Ferdinand will undoubtedly continue to make statements that call the decision arrived at in a court of law into question because he seems to be able to get away with that along with his foul mouthed goading on a pitch. Presumably his bitter and twisted brother will also carry on tweeting classless comments taking digs, not just at John Terry, but at anyone he thinks he can score points from now.
Yes, we all know by now United’s paragon of virtue repeated some no-mark’s tweet calling Ashley Cole a ‘choc ice’, because he found it funny apparently. Weird that when someone else repeats racist words he doesn’t find it quite so amusing. Also strange he felt the need to delete the tweet in question as soon as it was suggested a screen shot and a several thousand retweets might make it a lot less funny.
Anyway, whilst he’d initially tweeted “it’s sarcasm”, in yet another dig at JT, yesterday saw him doing a bit more digging to try and get himself out of it, saying “What I said yesterday is not a racist term. It’s a type of slang/term used by many for someone who is being fake. So there.” Fortunately, whilst others might be doing their best to demonstrate how low rent they are, our own players are rising above it.
John Terry decided to say nothing and take himself away from it all after the court found him not guilty and in spite of the venomous tweets aimed in his direction, Ashley Cole has chosen not to go down the Ferdinand route, with his lawyers saying “Ashley has no intention of making any sort of complaint. Ashley appreciates that tweeting is so quick it often results in off-hand and stray comments.”
Not that that’ll be the end of the whole sorry mess though because with a ‘source close to’ Anton Ferdinand telling the world how disappointed he was with the verdict, saying “He hoped that the trial would be a landmark case in as much as it would show the nation that racism is simply not acceptable”, it’s quite clear pressure is still very publicly being exerted for someone to hang John Terry. Of course, that ‘someone’ is likely to be the FA with them apparently passing their file, along with chief magistrate Howard Riddle’s 15-page judgement to an independent QC for his recommendations today in an effort to fast-track the process.
It would appear it is indeed one rule for them and another for John Terry.
