Ramires Hopeful Injury Isn’t Serious

Lady luck might have played a small part in the soft penalty that saw us progress in this season’s FA Cup at QPR’s expense yesterday but she wasn’t keeping an eye on Ramires was she?

The Chelsea midfielder went down after blocking a shot from QPR’s Clint Hill during the game and whilst it looked pretty innocuous at the time, he was stretchered off and later reported to have sustained a knee injury.

After the game, Ramires said ”The ball hit my foot with force and twisted my knee. When I fell on the floor I was already feeling a lot of pain and thought it was something really serious. However the doctors looked at it and said the internal knee ligament was stretched, but it’s not broken.  Tomorrow (Sunday) I will do even more detailed exams to find out what really happened, but I believe and hope it’s nothing that serious. I was feeling good on the match and, unfortunately this happened.”

Early reports suggest he could miss at least four weeks.
