JT Impressed With His Latest Boss

John Terry has seen plenty of managers come and go since he started playing for the first team back in 1998, so now playing under his eighth manager you’d have to think he’s a fair judge of them wouldn’t you?

That being the case then, if the Chelsea captain’s opinion carries as much weight as some people suggest it does, then it bodes well for Andre Villas-Boas because just two games into the new season, Terry already seems happy with the new way of working, saying “I have been really impressed with the importance he puts on training sessions.  Usually in pre-season, we just run. But from the very first day, he showed us how he wanted us to play.  He wants us to press, play high up the pitch, putting more pressure onto the opposition.  He says it will take time and matches for it to work.”

Mind you, with Gianluca Vialli, Claudio Ranieri, Jose Mourinho, Avram Grant, Luiz Felipe Scolari, Guus Hiddink and Carlo Ancelotti all having gone before, of course we all wonder how long our latest manager will last.  Whilst the Chelsea captain isn’t ready to offer up any reassurance on that score for his new boss though, he does think AVB himself is looking a bit further down the line. And on the duration of this particular term of employment says “It depends on Roman Abramovich. It is obvious that he wants to win the Champions League.  But for the manager, he wants to win the Premier League and the Champions League, that’s his objective this season.  Appointments such as Roberto Di Matteo and Steve Holland show that he is thinking about the long term.”
