Today’s final pre-season chat is with Chris from Forza Swansea.
TheChelseaBlog: So a new season begins, what do you realistically expect to get from it?
ForzaSwansea: I feel Swansea can avoid relegation and, though it won’t be easy, will be able to do it by surprising a few top teams along the way.
TCB: Do you think the transfer window has been kind to you?
FS: Yes, we’ve basically signed a “last season’s Championship dream-team” with the likes of Danny Graham, Leroy Lita and Wayne Routledge, as well as the Dutch national number two keeper, Michael Vorm!
TCB: Is there anyone you’d give your right arm to bring in?
FS: No, I think Swansea ultimately have who they need for the season now, though another defender wouldn’t go amiss. Nobody I’d sell a body part for though!
TCB: Who are your most important players?
FS: Swansea are a team which tend to function without superstars – though Nathan Dyer and Scott Sinclair are vital to attacking creativity, while defenders like Ashley Williams and Alan Tate are (usually) solid at the back.
TCB: What about opposition players? Which PL player worries you most?
FS: They all worry me – there is too much talent in the PL, some of which will give a big shock to Swansea I feel. Rooney, Tevez, Balotelli, Nasri… the list goes on!
TCB: How do you think your manager stands up against the rest?
FS: Brendan Rodgers is a great tactician and took Swansea to the PL in his first season with the club. Fans love him, players seem to love him. He may not have the credentials of Sir Alex or Harry Redknapp, but he’s perfect for Swansea at the moment.
TCB: And your supporters – can they give the opposition a run for their money?
FS: Swansea supporters are some of the best around – loud, proud and have a good collective voice, always singing and chanting. Keep an eye out for the East Stand in the Liberty Stadium, as this is where the loudest tend to sit/stand/dance.
TCB: Where do you think you’ll finish this season?
FS: Around 15th is my prediction.
TCB: Any predictions for the top four?
FS: In no particular order I think the top four will be: Man City, Man United, Chelsea and Liverpool.
TCB: Cheers Chris.
