Lampard Watching Drogba’s Back In Battle

dd

So, Frank Lampard has leapt to Didier Drogba’s defence following his super sub performance against United Tuesday night.

Ancelotti elected to start the Ivorian on the bench against United, bringing him on for Anelka after an hour, with Lampard later insisting “His reaction has been brilliant.

And it is a load of nonsense when people come out and say that he doesn’t warm-up, or he’s got got the hump in the dressing room. He’s been far from that. He’s been a mouthpiece in the dressing room; behind the lads before games saying ‘come on lads’. He’s trained with commitment, and he came on against Manchester United and he played with commitment. So it is absolute nonsense to say he’s been sulking.”

Is it though? I mean, I’m not arguing his commitment against United, in fact, it’s the hungriest he’s looked for a long time but irrespective of what he might have to say in the dressing room, his body language spoke a lot louder against Copenhagen.

Whether Frank wants to admit it or not, Drogba was bloody sulking – but I’d probably be more worried if he hadn’t been. After all, wouldn’t we have even more cause to question his commitment if he was happy to sit games out?

And for me, Carlo Ancelotti has played it perfectly because Drogba clearly has been lacking conviction in his performances for some time, but by reinforcing the front spot isn’t his to walk into, Carlo seems to have reignited the fire in Drogba’s belly – and if it stays alight, that’ll never be a bad thing!
