It’s Not Just Chelsea Loving Luiz

sea_v_Ma

Far be it for me to ever agree with anyone even remotely connected to Arsenal because it’s a pretty rare event but on this occasion I have to make an exception and concur with Martin Keown.

Having watched David Luiz against United Tuesday night, the former Arsenal man suggests “I have watched David Luiz a few times since his move and he has impressed me so much. You will not see a player with better technique. His passing is so silky and when he took his shot for the goal, you could see he knew he was going to score. He will have to be more careful with his challenges though, as he probably should have seen red.” And I have to say there isn’t any of that I wouldn’t agree with.

It’s been far too long since we’ve heard that sort of praise for one of our players but it’s no more than Luiz deserves. He was immense on the night and an example to some of our ‘big’ players in terms of putting himself about, challenging for everything and having the balls to take risks.

I do take Keown’s point about needing to be a bit careful because Luiz won’t get away with exerting such a strong physical presence in the game every week in the Premier League but on the night at least, he was a breath of fresh air on what otherwise might have been yet another stale performance from Chelsea.

TheChelseaBlog.org is an honest insight to the World of Chelsea FC. Not always pretty, sometimes rather cynical, but always realistic.
