Cech Stands Up To Be Counted

cech-branna

It was only a week earlier we had Petr Cech to thank for keeping us in the game against Everton, and yet after this weekend’s game against their neighbours, he seems to think we have him to thank for losing as well.

Holding his hands up, Cech says “I thought Kuyt would get to the cross at the near post. I wanted to get out so that I could react but he missed the ball, which flew past very fast and at the other post I had no chance then. It was clearly my mistake. I was there later than I should have been. I made a clear error, there is nothing more you can say about it.”

Personally, given the overall performance of the team, I think he’s being a bit harsh on himself. Mind you, he was just as harsh on Ivanovic during the game when some apparent miscommunication saw him in the Serbian defender’s face. Still, after the Fergie-style hairdryer treatment, it seems they’ve kissed and made-up, with Cech confirming “I shouted at him to leave the ball to me, so then I had to properly tell him to be more careful next time. Ahead of the goal he did that well but I made a mistake. If something like that happens on the pitch, you must clear up things by talk so that next time it is okay.”

Who’s the daddy?

Blue is the colour

TheChelseaBlog.org is an honest insight to the World of Chelsea FC. Not always pretty, sometimes rather cynical, but always realistic.
