Mourinho Isn’t Bothered, Why Are Chelsea?

So, Jose Mourinho’s back to doing what he does best – getting himself in the headlines as yet again he plans to move on. But where can he go after Real Madrid? Well, according to him, he’s not fussy.

Should we be surprised by that? After all, following his departure, this is the same Jose Mourinho who said he’d be back at Chelsea one day – because we ‘belong’ together. This is also the same Jose Mourinho who made it clear, his staying at Chelsea for as long as he did was the act of a martyr, dedicated to his ‘fans’ – and his selfless act ultimately ended in him being invited to close the door on his way out.

Personally, I’m not surprised but then my views on Jose Mourinho have never really gone along with the majority. What does surprise me though is the reaction to Mourinho saying “I’ve decided to return to England. I have nothing prepared about my future – I just want to be happy in my work. I have no preferences about Manchester United, Manchester City or Chelsea. I just want to rediscover the joy. I’m not saying the Premier League is the most spectacular in the world but it is the best organised, the fair play and the enormous respect for your opponent.”

Why is it that the minute he comes out with a statement like that, untold hands are shoved down pants in celebration? Firstly, is the idea of him coming back to Chelsea all that exciting? Or even likely? And secondly, bearing in mind he couldn’t actually care less whether he manages us or our rivals (or worse still, Manchester’s smaller club) doesn’t that suggest he wouldn’t actually be investing that much wherever he ends up?

Looking at how exciting his return would be, I guess if we’d prefer the verbal sparring with Fergie and the officials to have more attention paid to it than our attacking play, then yeh, that’d be exciting. Wouldn’t work for me if I’m honest.

Is it even likely he’d come back though? It’s not as if anyone had hold of his leg when he walked away from Chelsea. Quite the opposite in fact, with Abramovich. So why would Roman even entertain the idea? As far as I know, he already has a manager in situ – and one who managed the double in his first season with far less resources at his disposal that TSO.

So, that leaves us with the fact that he isn’t really arsed who he manages – or at least that’s what he’s saying. Not that he’d be trying to put himself out to tender eh? Because that would mean he wouldn’t be planning to come back to Chelsea after all wouldn’t it? And you’d have to assume it’d be Fergie’s job he was after bearing in mind it is Real Madrid he’ll be leaving.

Or maybe not? Because if you think about it, it wouldn’t be the first time he’d seen off Roberto Mancini – and it certainly wouldn’t be the first time he turned up at a club desperate for success and the money available to him to guarantee it!

Anyone still got their hand down their pants?

Blue is the colour is an honest insight to the World of Chelsea FC. Not always pretty, sometimes rather cynical, but always realistic.
