It’s on – it’s off – it’s on again, nothing new there for a Chelsea deal and the David Luiz one is no exception with the story apparently changing on an hourly basis.
The last I heard though was that according to Benfica, the deal is neither done nor dead yet. Because whilst there seems to have been all sorts of disagreements over his fee – Chelsea’s £22m bid falling short of Benfica’s £30m valuation by all accounts and Benfica wanting the money up front, whilst Chelsea wanted him on HP over 5 years – there’s some speculation we might have settled somewhere in the middle.
Mind you, with no firm confirmation from either side and Mancini alleged to have an eye on Luiz, this could be another one we walk away from without a signature.
