Cech Calls It Right

We might have finally got a win in the league against Blackburn at the weekend, following on nicely from the 7-0 win over Ipswich in the cup but I’m sure no different to quite a few of you, TheChelseaBlog saw that more as a tentative step in the right direction rather than turning a corner. And whilst I’m often left wishing our players hadn’t spoken out – usually because they’re adding up chickens yet to break their shells – on this occasion, I’m quite glad Petr Cech has.

Despite winning back-to-back games for the first time in over two months, the Chelsea keeper insists “It was extremely important that against Blackburn we managed to follow the performance from the Ipswich game. We were satisfied with our performance and with the way we reached the win. However, this is just the first step we have made to end the bad streak of results. In order to be able to say, ‘OK, it’s beyond us’, we need to win four or five games in the style like against Blackburn.”

And whilst there might be some who’d suggest he could be a bit more optimistic, I’d say he’s absolutely spot on to point out, not just to the press, but to everyone on the field in front of him, that they have a lot more to do yet.

Blue is the colour

TheChelseaBlog.org is an honest insight to the World of Chelsea FC. Not always pretty, sometimes rather cynical, but always realistic.
