Chelsea are down, but are they out?

Although many pundits wrote off Chelsea for this year’s title after they were beaten by Arsenal at the Emirates, it may be just a little premature to suggest that Chelsea are finished when it comes to winning the Premier League this season.

Yes, Chelsea would rather be in Manchester United’s shoes and be at the top of the pile with games in hand, but with no side having managed to put a decent run of victories together since the season started, the title is still up for grabs. If Chelsea can be the side that wins four or five in a row, then we could suddenly be talking about a team that has bounced back and shown they are true champions, rather than a team that is growing old and is no longer able to cut the mustard. Let’s not forget, the football betting made them strongly odds on earlier in the season, and this is still the side that dished out hammerings.

However, perhaps the biggest ace in the hole for Chelsea is the fact that Manchester United still have to travel to Arsenal, Tottenham, and of course Stamford Bridge. With this in mind, it seems hard to see United ending the season unbeaten, and they would appear even more unlikely to end the season without dropping a few points here and there, something the football predictions reflect. As a result of this, Chelsea are still able to go into the crucial stage of the season with the hope that they can show the spirit of champions and win the title despite not having been at their best.

This optimism aside, the fact remains that Chelsea face an uphill struggle, and one that we will soon know if they can meet.
