Didier Drogba has a pretty decent record against Arsenal with 12 goals in 12 games and according to our Ivorian striker, it isn’t just keeping that record going that motivates him to do well against today’s opponents.
Wenger’s signed himself a few of France’s leading stars for Arsenal and Drogba explains “They used to say that it was the 21st team of Ligue One and that is why when the players from France play against Arsenal they want to perform.”
Drogba ould have been one of those signings years ago, with Wenger interested in him when he was at Le Mans in 2001. As ever though, Wenger decided against a big signing although Drogba says “I don’t think he missed something because he had Thierry Henry.”
Well, he ain’t got Henry today and we’ve still got Didier Drogba, so let’s hope he continues to perform.
