Petr Cech Confident With Change

There’s been a few references to Chelsea’s lack of depth lately after our clearout in the summer. Obviously not at the start of the season when we were happily tucking the goals away but certainly after our first defeat of the season away at City last week, the comparisons with their bench and ours, not to mention squad size were bound to be talked about.

I mean, we saw players like Ballack, Joe Cole, Deco and Carvalho depart and brought in Ramires and Yossi Benayoun – who’s already out injured – so you’d have to say we didn’t exactly strengthen. Not so, according to Petr Cech, who thinks the changes are exactly what we needed.

The Chelsea keeper insists “For the dynamics of a team it is important to welcome some new players because that way departures follow and the team gets a new spirit. It is not possible to use the same style of play in two following seasons because the other clubs know you perfectly.”

Of course he’s right, the changes we made were pretty necessary to freshen us up (not to mention to reduce the wage bill) but did we bring enough in or leave ourselves open to questions of depth?

My guess is, we’ll be hoping there aren’t too many injuries than answer the question for us.

Blue is the colour

TheChelseaBlog.org is an honest insight to the World of Chelsea FC. Not always pretty, sometimes rather cynical, but always realistic.
