How many times have we said Michael Essien is like a new signing for us this season? How many times did we say how great a loss he was during his lengthy injuries? How often have we said he makes the difference in the big games? And how many times have we said he’s just too small?
Well, we might not have said the last one but Ferguson did once apparently, as the Beast confirms “I had two trials at United, but I was seen as too small. I think Sir Alex was looking for a certain type of player and I wasn’t the one then.”
I’m sure most United supporters would have to admit Fergie got that one wrong – wouldn’t they?
