Arsenal may well have surrendered their lead not to mention points against Sunderland in the 94th minute at the weekend but they still have one over on us apparently – because they’re not ‘old’.
So, instead of going top of the table Saturday, they ended up four points adrift once we’d wrapped up our points in the first half against Blackpool Sunday (an 11 man Blackpool for all those who want to start spouting 6 goals at me) and yet Denilson insists “I still think we can win the Premier league this season. For me Arsenal are the best team. If you look at Barcelona we play like them and I can see Arsenal winning something this season. We have the players and we have the touch. Chelsea have very strong players but they are older. And I think that Arsenal are going to win a trophy. This was just one game and we are still in a good position.”
Not much point playing like Barcelona unless you’re in La Liga though is there? This is the Premier League and the opposition – even sides lower down the table will give you a game as Arsenal found out against Sunderland.
Still, I’m sure the Gooners will be only too happy to hear their fortunes are about to change under the easy-going Wenger, with Denilson claiming “It has been a long time since we have won the league and I believe this season we will win some trophies. I am confident because we have shown all the time in games how well we can play and the spirit is there as well. I joined in 2006 and I can understand the fans being impatient but we have the best manager here who tries not to put us under too much pressure. We all have to show him how much we want it.”
