Essien Keeping A Cool Head

You’ve gotta love Michael Essien eh?

He’s just one of those players who seems to pay back every bit of faith you put in him and when he plays, you just know what you’ll get from him.

After a couple of pretty bad injuries, with significant periods of time out, he still comes back as strong as ever – mentally and physically – and for me, professionally he just gets better and better.

Where once, he might have had a bit of a reputation for being slightly less than genteel towards his opponents, even after being blatantly taken out by Scott Parker at the weekend, at the end of the game it was Essien who went over to shake the former Chelsea player’s hand, which speaks volumes about the sort of person he is.

And whilst previous seasons might have seen him bitten on the arse with declarations of how easily we’d win titles, after a really good start to this campaign and his two goals against West Ham at the weekend, Essien now insists “We still have a lot to do. The season is very long, but we have played some good football and are scoring a lot of goals – we have to keep going like that.”

Great attitude.

Blue is the colour

TheChelseaBlog.org is an honest insight to the World of Chelsea FC. Not always pretty, sometimes rather cynical, but always realistic.
