Ancelotti Praises Chelsea’s ‘New Signing’

Early in the summer, TheChelseaBlog suggested Michael Essien’s return this season could potentially feel like we had a new signing. His absence through injury has been glaringly obvious at times over the past couple of seasons but it’s when he’s really back you can see exactly what we’ve missed – and following his performance against West Ham yesterday, the Chelsea manager clearly agrees.

Essien looked much closer to his old self yesterday, popping up with a brace – with his head – and Carlo Ancelotti enthused “I think he’s better than a new signing. We missed him last season because he’s one of the top midfielders in the world. He came back and we’re happy he can maintain this level of play. He’s fit now. We have to pay attention because he’s playing well, all the games at the start of the season. He scored today, and that’s fantastic. He’s a fantastic jumper and I hope he maintains this position for as long as possible.”

We’re with you on that one Carlo.

Blue is the colour

TheChelseaBlog.org is an honest insight to the World of Chelsea FC. Not always pretty, sometimes rather cynical, but always realistic.
