An End To The Drogba Nonsense

At one point in time it was common practice to read about Didier Drogba ‘leaving’ Chelsea, usually because it was him saying it. With the Ivorian settled now though, it’s been a while since we’ve seen all that nonsense in the press and the last transfer window came and went without the usual pantomime.

That doesn’t mean we got away with reading the fairytales altogether though because after the speculation about him and Real Madrid came and went, strangely enough, once the window was closed, we were hearing how Marseille had tried to sign Drogba during the window and plan to come back knocking again in January.

The French club president Jen-Claude Dassier tried to tell us this week they’d lost out on a deal to take our frontman back to the Stade Velodrome because the transfer window closed and at the time, I barely even skimmed over the story when I saw the headline.

Turns out I was absolutely right not to waste my time and energy, with Carlo Ancelotti completely rubbishing what’s been said. The Chelsea manager says “This is not true. They did not make an offer. They didn’t ask the club if they could buy Drogba. If they come to us in January, they already know the answer.”

Quite right too.

Blue is the colour

TheChelseaBlog.org is an honest insight to the World of Chelsea FC. Not always pretty, sometimes rather cynical, but always realistic.
