TheChelseaBlog was really sad to hear the news that former Chelsea player (albeit for too short a time) Brian Laudrup has been diagnosed with cancer.
Laudrup joined Chelsea in 1998 and although injury limited him to just 7 Premier League games for us, he did score against Copenhagen in the Cup Winners’ Cup in what was to be his last game for us. And I for one, was gutted to see him go back to Denmark in the spring of 1999.
Now 41, Laudrup has been diagnosed with a form of lymphoma and says “I am obviously shocked by the diagnosis, but also know that there is now a tough battle ahead of me – a battle I will win. Fortunately, I have had very optimistic reports from doctors to support me. I now want to use my energy to get over the shock and take time with my family and those closest to me, so together we can move forward after this diagnosis.”
TheChelseaBlog wishes him all the very best for a successful recovery.
