Question Of Chelsea Defensive Signing Answered

I suppose since we sold Ricardo Carvalho and Jose Bosingwa still hasn’t returned from inury, it would be a fair assumption that we’d be looking to find a defender before the transfer window closes.

So far, we’ve been linked to Sergio Ramos, with newspaper reports suggesting we could pay up to £33m for the Real Madrid man who can play either right or centre back, and with Jose Mourinho interested in bringing in Maicon, with the exception of the price, the story itself wouldn’t be so far-fetched.

Then there’s John Terry’s number one fan, Martin Demichelis, apparently dropped for a game against Wolfsburg when he declined a starting position on the Bayern bench, and whose agent suggests “There are at least four clubs in for the player. As well as the Bianconeri, there are also Barcelona, Chelsea and Sevilla.”

The final contender in terms of defensive signings is Nicolas Burdisso, who seems to be surplus to Inter Milan’s requirements, having spent most of last season on loan at Roma and not expected to be involved for the Nerazzurri this season either.

However, it’s the Burdisso story that rules all three of them out in the end, with Carlo Ancelotti insisting “Burdisso at Chelsea? It’s not true. We have three defenders at the highest level.”

Now far be it for me to question the boss but doing the maths here, aren’t we going to struggle a little bit for cover if we get an injury or two? Thoughts?
